Teaching Methodology

I wanted to take a moment to expand on teaching methodologies and why it is important to us. Hopefully this article helps you understand the benefits of attending my classroom.

When you teach small classes and private lessons like I do, you experience students at many levels, with varied learning styles, paces, strengths and weaknesses. In a beginner class I teach the most common words and phrases. In any situation it is valuable the more important differences between spanish speaking countries. My background, growing up in Spain and living around the world, experiencing many cultures has given me the ability to help you build skills specific to any Spanish speaking region.

In my experience, I have had students of every kind. Different level, learning pace and styles, strengths and weaknesses. Overcoming these challenges, I have adopted a number of techniques. The Pimsleur method is especially interesting to me and I utilize the concepts often. Delivering the right content at the right intervals, to commit to long term memory.

When learning new concepts in a language, we may understand immediately or probably it needs some repetition. Repetition is important to make it second nature, but overdoing it is doesn’t help the student. We know your time is valuable so we don’t waste time on iterating what you already know.

You are adding new words, phrases, expressions, grammatical structures at the same time you keep practicing conjugation and exercise what you learned already in you long term memory. Circling back on what you know to add more detailed language skills.

Our classes are designed to be interesting and enjoyable. We apply many learning tools in our classroom, whether you are in person or remote. The key is have fun and always be improving your weaknesses.
